Golden Raintree

Cicada numbers are lessening, and so yesterday afternoon I took some pictures of the flowering golden raintree on the corner.

  1. While I have been to the Internet to learn that the golden raintree was first brought to the United States and planted at Monticello by Thomas Jefferson, I believe that they were made popular in Texas by the book and movie, "Raintree County." I first saw them in full golden bloom in Corpus Christi after 1980.

  2. That is so interesting to me, Carla. Like many non-native species, the golden raintree is a very invasive plant, and I think it is not so popular as it used to be, for that reason.
