Cottontail Rabbit at Dawn

Here's a little Eastern cottontail that I was lucky enough to get a snapshot of, one foggy dawn a few years back.

A Remarkable Pianist's Journey

Matthew Kennedy played for the residents at The Meadows on Saturday afternoon, April 23 -- played with great skill and sensitivity, and from the heart. He turned 90 years old on March 10, and a large birthday party was held for him at Fisk University, to honor him and his long, distinguished career.

You can see him interviewed by his daughter, Nina, on YouTube, in a film she uploaded there. It's in several parts -- click here for Part 1, and for Part 2.

I wasn't at the birthday party but I did get to be at the Saturday afternoon concert, where afterwards he allowed his photograph to be made with my nephew, my 92-year-old sister, and me, at her request. What a lovely man -- great presence, great sense of humor, great humility, and greatly gifted.
