Sunlit Cherry Blossoms

The Kwanzan cherry trees that line the sidewalk alongside Granny White Pike, south of Lipscomb's Avalon Hall, were in full sunlight as I went walking their way this afternoon, unlike on February 12, when I photographed them beneath heavily overcast skies. Left, the view I got looking southward.

"To look at things in bloom ..." *

On February 12, 2013, the Kwanzan cherry trees that line the sidewalk between Granny White Pike and the Lipscomb University campus just south of Avalon Hall are brilliant with bloom. I was so astonished to find them out ahead of even the forsythia this year.

A Massive Old Maple Displays Its Rings

Last week the old red maple tree that fell in the January 30, 2013, storm was sawed up and hauled away, leaving only its stump to mark the spot where it had grown for many decades.
