With the aid of an on-line flower-identification tool, I have found out that common names for this plant are gill-on-the-ground, creeping Charlie, and ground ivy. Wikipedia gives its scientific name as Glechoma hederacea and says it is aromatic. Shall go pick a sprig and find out, later this afternoon
